EmilyWEmily Walters
Operations Coordinator
Emily received her BA in Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz in 2007 and since has actively approached the world of youth education through an internship with 826 Valencia, a non-profit writing center dedicated to supporting low-income students ages 6 to 18 in San Francisco's Mission District. At 826 Valencia, Emily was responsible for coordinating student workshops, communicating with families and maintaining general office order. At home she plays ukulele, waters her extensive collection of house plants and engages in artistic projects from collage to short stories. This is her first year working with Galileo and she is excited to collaborate with such an innovative group of educators and can't wait to meet the kids that make it all happen.

GabrielAGabriel Adauto
Lead Instructor: Video Game Design
This is Gabriel’s his third year working with Galileo! After teaching and creating curriculum at The Tech Museum Summer Camps for the last two summers, he’s excited to bring his knowledge and passion for video games to Galileo Summer Quest! He graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Computer Science and has spent six years working at successful startups in the Bay Area and is currently a Senior Engineer taking two weeks of vacation to teach at Galileo Summer Quest this summer. Gabriel has logged thousands of hours playing various video games on nearly all consoles and is excited to combine his passion for teaching and his love of gaming to inspire a new generation of designers in what he considers the art form of the 21st Century.

KateMDan Archer
Lead Instructor: Comic Book Creators and Magazine Makers
Dan graduated with a Masters from Cambridge University (UK) in 2004 and spent two years marketing graphic novels whilst working for Penguin books in London and New York. However, the pull of the drawing board was too strong and in 2006 he went freelance as a cartoonist, illustrating books and magazines, giving workshops and championing the power of the comics medium to both educate and entertain. This brought him into contact with the Center of Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, Vermont, where he is currently based. This is his first year working for GSQ and he can't wait to share his passion for combining words and pictures with a fresh group of cartoonists and aspiring magazine makers!

AdamBAdam Barr
Lead Instructor: Go-Kart Racers
Adam Barr loves putting things together, whether it's writing portfolios with his high school English students in Baltimore and Connecticut; musical instruments in Ohio and the Bay Area; or teaching students how to build air conditioners from scratch to escape Baltimore’s blazing heat. Adam loves engaging kids in understanding the point where all the little pieces become parts of a whole. After graduating from Oberlin College, Adam spent 2 years as a Teach for America Corps Member teaching English in Baltimore, Maryland. He is excited to return to the Bay Area’s fabulous weather and to join the Galileo team and have a chance to have a ton of fun while building one-of-a-kind racing machines!
