Many families tell us our staff is the primary factor that distinguishes us from other summer programs. How do we ensure you receive the best experience?
- We utilize a four-round screening process for all camp positions and hire fewer than 10% of job applicants
- Reference and background checks are performed on all staff members
- All of our Lead Instructors are college graduates with backgrounds in their subject area and experience teaching youth
- We ensure our student-to-staff ratio is no more than 8:1 for Majors and 10:1 for Leadership Crews and Clubs
- Galileo's LEAD Program provides professional development through training, ongoing observation and evaluations
Staff Roles
Lead Instructors Our Lead Instructor staff shares your passion for the major you've selected. We searched high and low for experts in each subject area who also possess the talent to inspire, tailor material to different learning styles and facilitate your hands-on projects. All of our Lead Instructors are college graduates.
Assistant Instructors These college students and graduates work side-by-side with you in your Major, assisting where you need extra guidance and supporting the Lead Instructor. Assistant Instructors are individuals who work in areas related to your Major and share your enthusiasm for the subject.
Crew Leaders These individuals are responsible for Leadership Crews and oversee Club activities. Crew Leaders are selected for their special abilities to facilitate your leadership development, create connections between you and other peers and organize amazing activities for Clubs.
Program Interns These staff members are high school volunteers training for future leadership positions at Galileo. Program Interns assist with administrative duties and with Majors, Crews and Club activities. Program Interns are mentored by senior staff and help provide an all around positive and fun experience.
